Teach For All welcomes two new board members
We're excited to welcome five new members to our Board of Directors who bring a wealth of experience and diverse perspectives: Amy Klement, Managing Partner, Omidyar Network partner; Dr. Mona Mourshed, President and CEO,Generation: You Employed; Dr. Thomas Ogilvie, Board of Management, Human Resources & Corporate Incubations, Deutsche Post DHL Group; Javier Roglá Puig, Global Director of Santander Universities and CEO of Universia Holding, Banco Santander; and Beth Schmidt, Director, Education Portfolio, Emerson Collective’.
As a partner at Omidyar Network, Amy Klement leads their education initiative globally, which includes education strategy and investments across Africa, India, Latin America, and the United States. Amy was previously responsible for the Omidyar Network’s Financial Inclusion, Property Rights, and Consumer Internet & Mobile initiatives in key geographies.
Dr. Mona Mourshed is the President and CEO of Generation: You Employed, an independent nonprofit founded by McKinsey & Company. Generation trains and places disconnected youth in jobs. Generation has recently introduced a new program, called ReGeneration, which trains and places mid-tenure workers whose jobs have been displaced due to automation and digitization. Mona has authored widely cited employment reports, including Education to Employment: Getting Europe’s Youth Into Work and Education to Employment: Designing a System That Works.
Dr. Thomas Ogilvie has held a number of management positions over more than fifteen years with Deutsche Post DHL Group. He joined the company in December 2001 with the Market Research Service Center (MRSC) at Deutsche Post Consult GmbH. He then went on to hold a number of product and business development roles within the Post - eCommerce - Parcel division, taking over the newly created role of Senior Vice President for Private Customers and Online Strategy, DHL Parcel Germany, in 2011. In January 2016, he was appointed Executive Vice President, Corporate Development, Deutsche Post DHL Group.
Before joining Santander, Javier Roglá Puig served as CEO of Teach For All’s network partner Empieza por Educar (Spain) and was a member of Teach For All’s Network Advisory Committee. He has also worked as a Principal with the Boston Consulting Group, where he focused on corporate strategy and strategic organization-related projects. Currently, as the Global Director of Santander Universities and CEO of Universia Holding, Javier oversees a network of over 1000 universities and the largest corporate-sponsored Higher Education support program in the world.
As Director of the Education Portfolio, Beth Schmidt leads Emerson Collective’s education efforts to radically improve outcomes for students and advance broader social justice efforts. Beth drives Emerson Collective’s education strategy through investments, communications, media, convening, advocacy and policy efforts, as well as through partnerships with entrepreneurs, schools, educators and communities. In addition to her work at Emerson Collective, Beth is the Founder and Executive Chairman of Wishbone, a non-profit organization dedicated to sending low-income students to high-quality summer programs. Prior to founding Wishbone, Beth was a Teach for America Corps Member, teaching tenth-grade English at Locke High School in South Central, Los Angeles.
