In accepting the award, Wendy highlighted that one of the key lessons she’s learned from being part of Teach For All’s global network is that to truly tackle educational inequity will require many more people developing solutions across sectors and at all levels. “It doesn’t start in classrooms or schools, but far before children arrive at school,” she explained. “To solve this problem will require developing collective leadership—leadership across the whole ecosystem around our children who are working together to effect the comprehensive changes we need to see.”

Presented during the Knowledge Summit in Dubai, the award was established by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to encourage those working in knowledge-related fields to innovate and create new ways to spread knowledge around the world. Previous Knowledge Award winners include Melinda Gates, Hiroshi Ishiguro, and Tim Berners Lee.
