Jesper assumed the role of CEO at Teach First Danmark on October 1, 2022. He is a former member of the Social Democratic Party and most recently served as the Youth Mayor of Copenhagen. For nine years, Jesper was the chairman of Copenhagen Municipality's youth school and represented the municipality in the European collaboration E2C, focusing on educational exchanges and projects. During his tenure as mayor and now as director, Jesper has concentrated on educational equality and improving conditions for vulnerable children and youth. He has been instrumental in developing strategies to address teacher shortages and enhance the quality of public school education in Denmark. His working life has been deeply committed to supporting vulnerable groups; he worked as a teaching assistant in the youth club in Tingbjerg, his childhood neighborhood, was active in Denmark’s public housing movement, and board member in a number of organizations.
