Indus Action helps marginalized students across India access the quality education they deserve
Teach For India alumnus Tarun Cherukuri launched Indus Action to enable disadvantaged families in India to have sustainable access to their legislated benefits.
India's Right to Education Act guarantees that 25% of placements at India’s private schools should be offered to children from the most disadvantaged communities at no cost. Despite its admirable intention, the act has historically been challenging to implement, and many marginalized children are missing out on the education they deserve. To address this, Indus Action mobilizes community volunteers to inform families of their rights, provide access to the information they need, and offer support and guidance throughout the application process. To date Indus Action has erolled over 392,622 students from low-income families in private schools in cities across India.
