The 2021 Teach For All Global Conference will bring together our entire global community to explore the question “What leadership do we need now?” to create a more equitable, inclusive world. Following the success of the network’s first virtual Global Conference in 2020, we’re looking forward to once again hosting our annual event virtually and across time zones.

While the challenges facing young people around the world are many, as a network we can rise to meet them. Over the course of this four-day event, we will consider together—as staff members, participants, alumni, students, supporters, and allies of Teach For All network partners in 60 countries—what effective leadership looks like at all levels. In daily assemblies, learning sessions, and multiple opportunities for connecting across borders, we’ll deepen our understanding of the kind of leadership necessary in classrooms, in communities, and in our own organizations to ensure all children have the education, support, and opportunity to fulfill their potential. 

In addition to the educators, staff members, and students from across the Teach For All network who will be leading sessions and sharing their diverse perspectives on panels and in discussions, featured speakers at the event include the Republic of Indonesia’s Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Nadiem Makarim; 2020 Global Teacher Prize Winner Ranjitsinh Disale; authors Amanda Ripley and Doug Lemov; and the OECD’s Director for Education and Skills, Andreas Schleicher. Daily assemblies will also include appearances by journalist Fareed Zakaria, 2016 Global Teacher Prize Winner Hanan Al Hroub, community organizer and social entrepreneur Kennedy Odede, and more.

Throughout the Global Conference, a variety of community-building opportunities will be offered each day, including discussion sessions for attendees who share similar interests or challenges, and, for the first time, a virtual City of Learning where attendees can explore and connect using personalized avatars to recreate the in-person experience. Another new addition this year will be the “The Saturday Sessions”: three hours of learning, connecting, and inspiration on Saturday, October 30, highlighting insights and innovations from across the network—from inspiring alumni who are leading change in their countries and communities to students who are changing the world.
