My name is Naseer. I’m 14-years-old. I’m from Islamabad, Pakistan. I read in Class Eight. I’m a Muslim. I have four sisters and one elder brother. I belong to a lower-class family. My father is a News translator. Now, I want to share an example of my leadership. I noticed a problem with our young generation in my school. The young students of our nation are not involved in reading activities. There are many disadvantages of avoiding book reading that a student can have to face. I saw that when the students do not read books then their academic performance is also affected. I noticed that students could not even read the lesson in the classroom because they do not have reading habits. The basic cause of the lack of book reading habit is due to unavailability of such opportunities. They have no books to read and to improve their reading skill. One of the disruptions in book reading is the extra use of mobile phones. We decided to collect books from teachers, students, and libraries for a certain time in which students of our school can read that book and enhance their reading skills. We also decided that when students had read the issued books we would return those books to the owners. We named this activity “Today a Reader Tomorrow a Leader.” We raised awareness among our students about that project. We made charts and paintings to inform all the students of the school about this opportunity. The students came to the book club and read books. This helped the students to improve their reading skills. This increased the knowledge of our students about the advantages of book reading. This project helped us very much to improve the students’ reading skills.
