Teach For Nigeria alumna Sharon Takim is committed to improving education through collective leadership
On her first day as a Teach For Nigeria fellow, Sharon Takim was surprised to find more than 120 students in her classroom—a fact that was immediately humbling, but ultimately led her to aspire to improve education for children in Nigeria at a macro scale. Today, as a Special Assistant to the Kaduna State government, she's leveraging the lessons she learned in her classroom about the importance of collaboration to build the coalitions necessary to influence policy decisions. "You know that you can't change the world in two years," Sharon reflects on her experience as a fellow, "but what you can do is start, and look for other people you can collaborate with."
